New, secure nhs.net email addresses for UCLH

26/11/2012 00:00

UCLH has launched a pilot project to create secure NHS.net email addresses for each service within the Trust.

This project is part of the GP Relationship Programme and is a direct result of feedback from GPs who requested direct email contact with departments. The email addresses are being rolled out for non-urgent, non-patient specific queries in the first instance and will be monitored regularly to keep response times within two working days.

The new email addresses are:

 Respiratory Medicine/Sleep Service  ucl-tr.UCLHrespiratorymedicine@nhs.net
 Rheumatology  ucl-tr.UCLHrheumatology@nhs.net
 Dermatology  ucl-tr.UCLHdermatology@nhs.net
 Endocrinology ucl-tr.UCLHendocrinology@nhs.net
 Diabetes  ucl-tr.UCLHdiabetes@nhs.net
 Thyroid  ucl-tr.UCLHthyroid@nhs.net
 Clinical Pharmacology  ucl-tr.UCLHclinicalpharmacology@nhs.net
 Medicine for the Elderly  ucl-tr.UCLHmedicinefortheelderly@nhs.net
 Colorectal  ucl-tr.UCLHcolorectalsurgery@nhs.net
 COPD  ucl-tr.COPD@nhs.net

If the member of staff receiving the email feels that it may take longer than two working days to respond, they have been briefed to communicate this to the GP and keep them informed of progress. The overall aim is to allow GPs to send queries directly to the service and get a response in a timely manner.

The email addresses are being set up in phases and the first department to roll out a range of email addresses across its services is Medical Specialties. Other departments will follow in the next stages of rollout. The following email addresses went live at the beginning of the month.
