Symptoms of Swine flu include:
- Fever
- Fatigue
- Lack of appetite
- Coughing
- Sore throat
- Some people with swine flu have also reported vomiting and diarrhoea.
If you are experiencing these symptoms, please do not come to hospital. Instead phone NHS Direct (0845 46 47) or see your GP.
We can all help to prevent the transmission of all viruses by taking the following steps:
- Cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing, using a tissue when possible
- Dispose of dirty tissues promptly and carefully
- Maintain good basic hygiene by, for example, washing your hands frequently with soap and water
- Clean hard surfaces (eg door handles) frequently using a normal cleaning product

If you feel unwell or are experiencing any of the above symptoms:
- Stay home
- Inform your line manager of your absence
- Phone NHS Direct (0845 46 47) or see your GP
- Returning to work
Staff should not return to work unless they are showing no further signs of the above symptoms
