Flu vaccines available for long stay patients

03/12/2019 00:00
This winter, in line with NHS England recommendations, UCLH will be offering flu vaccines to inpatients who have been admitted for more than 14 days.

Eligible patients are those who are:

  • In a clinical risk group
  • Pregnant
  • Over 65 years of age

Between 1 December 2019 and 29 February 2020 we are asking clinical teams to assess which of their inpatients fit the above criteria and to prescribe the vaccination to these patients.

A record of the vaccination having been given should be included in the discharge summary.

UCLH cannot offer flu vaccines to patients who have severe egg allergies e.g. anaphylaxis.

For more information please contact our virology department by email: uclh.virologydoctors@nhs.net or phone 020 3447 8986/8975 or 07946 202 872.
