Urgent referrals should be clearly marked and are given priority

Referrals not providing BPE (Basic Periodontal Examination) Scores will not be accepted

Waiting times for consultation: up to 8 weeks

Criteria for acceptance for treatment:

  • BPE/CPITN scores 3, 4 (pockets >5.5mm)
  • Medical conditions affecting the periodontium.
  • Acute problems e.g. desquamative gingivitis, necrotising gingivitis.
  • Aggressive forms of periodontal diseases (pockets in young patients)
  • Non responding patients with pockets >5.5mm
  • Mucogingival problems including ridge enhancement
  • Patients requiring intraoral/minor grafting procedures in preparation for implant treatment.
  • Multidisciplinary care interfacing across other disciplines eg orthodontics; restorative; systemic.
    Patients with poor oral hygiene, gross calculus deposits, and primary dental disease, e.g. caries and failing restorations, will not normally be accepted; including those in the midst of periodontal treatment elsewhere.

Access to patient results

Results of investigations are included within patient letters.
