For the past century, services for women and their babies have been provided at the Obstetric Hospital and the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Hospital which was founded by its namesake, the first female doctor to be trained in Britain. In 2001 these hospitals amalgamated and now offer an increasing range of general and specialised care for women. Provided by a well-qualified and senior team of obstetricians, paediatricians, midwives and neonatal nurses as well as a comprehensive team providing support services.
In November 2008, maternity and neonatal services moved to the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson (EGA) Wing into £70 million purpose-built accommodation offering the latest technology and facilities in pleasant and well-designed
surroundings, conveniently located and linked to University College Hospital (UCH).
