Professional background

Anand Kelkar is Consultant Urological Surgeon working at the University College Hospital, London. He is one of our high volume surgeons with more than twenty years of experience in treating prostate and bladder cancer. The main focus of his practice is Robotic Prostatectomy and pelvic surgery. He is one of the few surgeons in the UK skilled in all three techniques of Prostatectomy- open, Laparoscopic and Robotic. In addition he works closely with colorectal surgeons and gynaecologists in complex pelvic operations.

He is the Lead consultant for urological cancer at Barking , Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust and is a core member of London Cancer Collaborative to pioneer Cancer Centralisation Process for NHS England.

He graduated MBBS in 1985 and was awarded J C Lisboa gold medal in Surgery for securing the highest marks. He subsequently specialised in General Surgery in 1990 and further qualified as a urologist in 1993. He was awarded SIU (Societe Internationale D'urologie) Cancer fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital in 1997 and undertook advanced cancer training at the Christie Hospital, Manchester, Freeman in Newcastle and Hammersmith, Royal Free and Charing Cross Hospitals in London. He has been a Consultant Urologist in East London and Essex for 13 years and joined the cancer team at UCLH in 2016.
