Professional background

Andrew Plumb is a Senior Lecturer in Medical imaging at University College London and Consultant Radiologist at UCLH. He trained at St John's College, Oxford University before completing the MRCP in 2007. His initial radiology training was in Manchester, gaining the FRCR in 2010, for which he was awarded the Frank Doyle Medal. He holds a PhD in CT colonography from University College London and was appointed a consultant in 2014. He sits on the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) Radiology Quality Assurance group and the BCSP patient experience group. He is the current British Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (BSGAR) research officer and leads active research programmes in gastrointestinal and early translational clinical imaging.

Research interests

  • CT colonography, particularly its application to the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme
  • Crohn's disease, including the role of MRI in predicting clinical outcome and response to treatment
  • Photoacoustic tomography for human vascular and oncological imaging
