Professional background

Gavin Johnson is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at University College Hospital, and a Senior Lecturer in Medical Education at UCL. Gavin studied at Newcastle University, and trained in General Medicine in the North East, and moved to London to take up a post as an Education Fellow in Medical Education at the Royal College of Physicians of London, culminating in an MSc and MD in Medical Education. His Gastroenterology training continued at University College Hospital and Barts and the Royal London Hospital Trust.

Dr Johnson joined UCLH in 2010 and specialises in endoscopy (ERCP and EUS); and pancreaticobiliary medicine. He is Director of Undergraduate Education at UCLH and leads year 4 of UCL Medical School.
