Professional background

Dr Jessica Manson is a consultant rheumatologist. Her clinical interests include acute rheumatology, inflammatory arthritis and chronic pain.

She was awarded Clinical Research Fellowship from Arthritis Research UK, and subsequently a PhD from UCL for her research into kidney disease in systemic lupus erythematosus.

She has an honorary senior lectureship at UCL, where she is currently principal investigator for two studies investigating the causes and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.

She is regularly involved in teaching medical students, junior doctors and allied health professionals.

Research interests

Rheumatoid arthritis - with on-going grant funding in three main areas:

  • Patients with active disease but normal serum inflammatory markers
  • The develpoment of anti-drug antibodies
  • The role of the microbiome
