Professional background

Sarah studied medicine at Cambridge University and University College London Medical School before completing specialist training in Paediatrics in London. She has a particular interest in Infectious Diseases and Allergy, having trained at St Mary’s and Great Ormond Street Hospitals. She holds the Diploma of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (LSTHM 2008).

Sarah’s research interests are in B cell immunology and adolescent HIV infection. She has completed an MD (Res) in this field (Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Fellow, Institute of Child Health, UCL, 2014). She was awarded the Sam Tucker Fellowship (Royal Society of Medicine, 2009). She also holds a MA (Hons) degree in Physiology.

Sarah’s main non-clinical interest is in Medical Education and Training. She is a Fellow of both the Higher Education Academy and the Academy of Medical Educators. She has an interest in mentoring and is national co-lead for mentoring for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. She has received several teaching awards for both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

At UCLH, Sarah runs clinics for children and young people in General Paediatrics, and specialist clinics in Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Sarah is co-lead for Paediatric Simulation at UCLH.
