Our cancer waiting times team processes, monitors and tracks all urgent, two-week wait, suspected cancer referrals from GPs. All appointments are carefully and systematically monitored to ensure a speedy and efficient patient journey through diagnosis and to the start of treatment, or discharge where appropriate.
Patients are seen by different specialists in different clinics dependent on the type of cancer that their GP suspects. All of these clinics are rapid-access and patients are always offered appointments within 14 days of receipt of referral.
Please try to ensure that, wherever possible, the patient is available to be seen within the 14 day target.

We accept referrals for patients with all types of suspected cancer.
In 2010/11 we received 5404 suspected cancer referrals from GPs. Ninety four percent of these patients were seen within two weeks, and the six percent that were not were due to patient choice of appointment date.
If cancer is diagnosed, a named key worker will be allocated to the patient to support them through their treatment and follow-up care.
Please ensure you use the contact details (telephone and fax) on each individual form as they may vary for each service.
