Endodontics is the prevention, diagnosis and management of diseases of the tooth pulp and the tissues surrounding the root of a tooth. The department is the first independent academic and clinical Endodontic unit in the UK and as a result has a strong clinical and academic focus; with patient care being the core of the educational and research delivery with a strong worldwide recognition for its activities. Patients are seen for advice, diagnosis and treatment providing they fulfill the stated criteria. There is a strong drive within the department to work closely with the General Dental Practitioners to help improve the delivery of endodontic care to paitent’s.
9,000 patients are seen annually, of whom approximately 2,600 are new patients.
