Respiratory Medicine  

Our thoracic/respiratory medicine service offers a comprehensive inpatient and outpatient medical service for adults with conditions affecting the lungs.

We have specialist services in:

  • Severe asthma
  • Bronchiectasis/Lung infection
  • Bronchoscopy services
  • Lung Cancer
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD)
  • Oxygen assessment
  • Pleural Disease
  • Sleep Disordered Breathing
  • Tuberculosis

We have strong links with support services and other specialties within UCLH

  • Lung function
  • Radiology (including nuclear medicine)
  • Thoracic Surgery
  • Rheumatology
  • Sleep services (neurology and Ear Nose and Throat department)
  • Allergy service Royal National Thraot Nose and Ear Hospital (part of UCLH)

The department has a strong academic basis and is active in basic science and clinical research (see links)

The Institute of Lung Disease and lung cancer teams have their own charities to provide information on these conditions, support for patients and their families/friends and raise money for research (see useful links).
