The Department of Neuropsychiatry offers general and specialised outpatient clinics, inpatient admissions and a consultation-liaison service for inpatients admitted to NHNN.
We undertake assessments of patients with:
- Psychiatric symptoms in the context of neurological disorders (e.g. multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy)
- Unexplained neurological symptoms (e.g. conversion and somatisation disorders) and Psychiatric symptoms where an organic cause is suspected.
- Where appropriate we offer outpatient treatment: this may include cognitive behaviour therapy or drug therapy. Our CBT lead is Dr Linda Fisher.
- In more complex cases, a multidisciplinary inpatient rehabilitation programme is available.
Our inpatient unit is a tertiary referral centre for assessment, management and treatment of patients with complex neuropsychiatric conditions.
Outpatient services include general neuropsychiatry clinics, multidisciplinary clinics to assess patients prior to admission for neuropsychiatric rehabilitation programmes and a specialist Tourette’s Syndrome clinic.
Referrals can be made to Professor Raymond Dolan, Dr Jacqueline Foong, Professor Eileen Joyce or Dr Gary Price. Referrals to the Tourette’s Syndrome clinic should be sent to Professor Joyce.
