The main theatres suite, comprises of 12 operating theatres, is located on level P3.
Facilities include:
- A dedicated adult receiving and recovery area
- A dedicated paediatric receiving and recovery area
The department comprises 153 theatre practitioners, 48 theatre support assistants, and a dedicated play specialist and supported by nine administrative staff delivering peri-operative care for over 220 sessions each week.
Our clinical work is varied and includes: obstetrics, colorectal surgery, vascular surgery, bariatric surgery, trauma and orthopaedics, gynaecology,breast surgery, urology, paediatric surgery, maxillo-facial surgery, head and neck surgery and oral surgery. We also provide support to areas outside the theatre complex which include imaging, endoscopy and radiotherapy.
The theatre coordinator works in conjunction with the duty consultant anaesthetist to plan and manage the clinical activity across the theatres complex on a day-to-day basis.
