Women can arrange an appointment by completing the self referral form ( word pdf). This can be posted, emailed or faxed to the address above. We aim aim to contact all women within a week. If you do not hear from us please feel free to contact us on 020 3447 9400.

Rapid access and one-stop clinics

The maternal fetal assessment unit (MFAU) is a midwifery-led unit with access to the obstetric team when required. Women who experience problems during pregnancy outside of routine antenatal care i.e. reduced fetal movements will be seen and assessed. The benefits of this service are:

  • Access to ultrasound services
  • Shorter waiting times for women
  • A relaxed and welcoming environment

The Maternal Fetal Assessment Unit is open 8am - 7pm Monday to Saturday and is located within the Integrated Service on floor 1 of the EGA Wing. Telephone 020 3447 9573 (outside of these hours please contact Labour and Delivery Care on 020 3447 9400)

Access to patient results

All women are provided with handheld maternity records.

Tertiary referrals

High risk obstetric services at UCLH have pioneered the development of fetal and maternal medicine at a local, national and international level for many years. Today we remain at the forefront of clinical and academic excellence within this speciality and our large multi-disciplinary team provides a comprehensive and integrated clinical service.

The Fetal medicine unit is internationally recognised as a centre of clinical and academic excellence. We receive referrals from health professionals throughout the UK and abroad and are the tertiary referral unit for the North Central London network.
Our maternal medicine team brings together a multidisciplinary group of leaders in their field from all specialist hospitals within UCLH e.g. The Heart Hospital and The National Hospital for Neurology. The team comprises of obstetricians, physicians, obstetric physicians, nurses and midwives.
