Using the revolving doors at University College Hospital

The UCH building is fitted with wide revolving doors at the front and rear, which we ask all patients, staff and visitors to use. For those with reduced mobility the revolving doors have a push-button operated 'slow-down' feature which reduces the speed of the revolving door. The doors are continuously revolving but are fitted with state-of-the-art safety features and a safety brake, which can be activated by standing too close to the rear of a glass partition in the revolving door. The doors include signs and audible voice instructions on actions to take if the safety brake operates - to restart the door, simply step forward.

Hospital wristbands

We are asking patients to a wear an additional wristband which, through technology, helps us manage how we provide care to our patients at each stage of their treatment in hospital to improve efficiency and reduce delays. Find out more

Disabled access

Patients, staff and visitors using wheelchairs or crutches, or who have a mobility impairment or any other disability that makes using the revolving doors difficult, should use the doors immediately to the side of the revolving doors. These can be opened by pressing the square silver button by each door.
