  • Every year we see 1,700 new outpatients, 5,500 follow up outpatients, more than 1,200 inpatients and over 100 day cases
  • In the past year 1,056 patients have undergone a record number of surgical heart operations and an increasing number - around 260 - have received cardiac defibrillators
  • We are one of the UK’s leading centres for Grown Up Congenital Heart (GUCH) disease
  • This spring, Health Minister Rosie Winterton chose the Heart Hospital to launch the GUCH national treatment guidelines
  • More than 100 patients have had heart valves replaced without needing to undergo traditional surgery, a technique pioneered at the Heart Hospital
  • We’ve worked with the North Central London Cardiac Network to cut transfer and treatment times for patients needing urgent angioplasty. The majority now stay in hospital for just 12 hours
