UCLH seeks new Trust Chair

£64,000 for 2.5 to 3 days/week

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) is one of the most complex NHS trusts in the UK. It serves a diverse population locally and nationally with an annual turnover of £1bn. The Trust provides a comprehensive range of acute and specialist clinical services across its seven central London sites. A high performing Trust, UCLH aspires to become a world-class academic research hospital across all areas of care and treatment.

UCLH is seeking to appoint an exceptional individual as Chair. The Chair will provide the leadership to both the Board of Directors and the Council of Governors. The Board works closely with the Council and sets the overall policy and strategic direction for the Trust, approves UCLH’s business plan, and monitors delivery of performance against objectives to ensure the Trust consistently delivers high quality, safe and cost effective clinical services.

The successful candidate will have substantial leadership experience, ideally gained within organisations of significant size and complexity in the public, private or voluntary sectors. The Chair will have an enabling and collaborative style with first class chairing skills. The Chair should engender respect at all levels of the organisation and have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to influence and persuade at the most senior levels in private and public sector contexts and to forge strong partnerships will be important.

The Chair will provide credible support and challenge to the Trust and have experience of building strong alliances with a wide and diverse range of stakeholders. A commitment to UCLH's values and to the needs of UCLH patients, staff and the local and national communities served by the Trust is essential. Candidates should have a true appreciation of NHS values.

UCLH is committed to equality of opportunity for all and welcomes applications from a diverse range of people.

To apply for this appointment you need to be eligible to be a public or patient member of UCLH. A member can be a resident of a London borough or have been a patient of the Trust in the past three years.
