Meet our volunteers

  • Meet Pragna

Pragna volunteers as a welcome and guider, she recently won the UCLH Celebrating Excellence Volunteer Award. When describing her volunteering Pragna said that “Volunteering has enriched my life beyond words. I cant put a price on it. I’ve met so many lovely people who have taught me so much, to appreciate every moment. If I can make a difference to their journey through life- as they have to mine then it is all worthwhile.”
  • Meet Yvonne

Yvonne supports two different groups that are running at University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre. She describes her volunteering: “At two consecutive Look Good Feel Better workshops, several women asked questions about hair and wig care. As this isn't part of the session, I contacted the My New Hair charity and found a local salon with trained hairdressers. I asked one of the hairdressers if they would be interested in coming along to hold a Q&A session. They agreed and attended our most recent workshop, which I feel was a great success.”
  • Meet Wendy

Having previously been headteacher, Wendy currently runs a group called ‘Creative Words’ which meets on a weekly basis to write and share idea.
“I am volunteering because I have seen the emotional benefits that writing can bring to an individual. A John Donne said “No man is an Island” and we all have difficulties in our lives at some time so we are here to help one another where we can”
