Occupational health and safety service 

We have an occupational health and safety team who are a team of experts available to give advice and support where needed. Occupational health-trained doctors and nurses, moving and handling advisers, health and safety advisers, and a physiotherapist work alongside your manager to ensure that your working environment is safe and offer a range of services to maintain and improve your health at work.

The range of services available includes:

Occupational health

  • Pre-employment health screening
  • Assessment of fitness to work after an illness or injury
  • Rehabilitation following illness or injury
  • Confidential counselling
  • Occupational immunisation programme
  • Advice on work-related health problems
  • Management of occupational exposures to blood and body fluids
  • Staff physiotherapy service

Health and safety

  • Environmental assessment and monitoring
  • Help with risk assessment
  • Health and safety advice
  • Accident monitoring and investigation
  • Health and safety training

Moving and handling

  • Help with manual handling assessments
  • Moving and handling advice
  • Training
  • Advice on moving patients with complex conditions and bariatric patients
  • Advice on equipment
  • Moving and handling work place assessments
  • Assessment for those with musculoskeletal disorders

Accessing the service
Staff can self-refer to the service or can be referred by their line manager. All records are completely confidential and consent is sought before any information is given out.
