Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT)

UCLH is serious about creating a working environment where all staff, regardless of their sexual orientation, feel valued and treated with respect at all times.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT)

In order to support its lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) staff we have been working in partnership with Stonewall since 2012 to ensure that all LGBT people who come in to contact with UCLH enjoy healthy lives as staff, service users and patients.

The UCLH LGBT Network Group is committed to ensuring that all UCLH employees have a positive experience of working for the trust and are treated with respect and dignity. We welcome your feedback on your experiences of working here and what changes you would like to see within your working environment.

UCLH Stonewall Organisation Code: 862

Stonewall describe their Workplace Equality Index as Britain's leading tool for employers to measure their efforts to understand and tackle discrimination and create inclusive workplaces for lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) employees.

In August 2012, UCLH joined Stonewall’s Equality Index and subsequently have become members of the Stonewall Diversity Champions group. The UCLH LGBT Network collated and provided evidence and information on LGBT staff and leadership to Stonewall.

In 2015, UCLH came 167th out or 397 entries and was also ranked 19th out of 50 in the Health and Social Care Sector. We are working hard to make further improvements for future submissions.

Our well-established LGBT network meets bi-monthly and ultimately aims to ensure LGBT equality across the UCLH to improve the working lives of LGBT staff and in turn positively impact on the quality of care they deliver to our patients. We have taken part in London Pride for the last 3 years and regularly organise popular events such as karaoke, quiz nights and musical events for patients and staff including a rendition from the London Gay Men’s Chorus in the Atrium of University College Hospital.

The membership of the LGBT Network Group is open to all employees of UCLH.

If you would like to become involved in the UCLH LGBT Network Group the please contact us on LGBT@uclh.nhs.uk
