Carers Week at UCLH

UCLH is supporting this years Carers Week by holding an event for carers in the atrium of University College Hospital 235 Euston Road this coming Monday 11 June.

Carers Week

Carers and patients will be able to access advice and support from Camden Carers, Camden Age UK and speak with UCLH’s carer Governor Ros Jacobs.  There will also be an opportunity to speak with an adviser about any specific benefits queries.

‘In Sickness and in Health’ is the theme for this year’s National Carers Week  which calls for greater support for unpaid carers to help them continue in their caring role without facing ill health, stress or financial worry.

We hope to raise awareness of this and signpost carers to information and services that can help to improve their health and well being.

Carers Week highlights the vital contribution made by carers to their families and communities in providing unpaid care for someone who is ill, frail or disabled.

Ros Jacobs said: “Many carers do not realise how much of an impact caring can have on their general health and wellbeing. It’s quite easy to become tired as you just have to keep going.

“Quite often people around you notice that you are getting run down before you do. You need to be aware of your limits and start to say ‘no’ and ask other family members, your GP or support services to help.”.

The event at University College Hospital, 235 Euston Road, runs from 10am until 1pm.
