Celebrate research with us

Ever fancied trying your hand at surgery or having your voice analysed?

These are just two of the fun games and experiments that will be available at our annual research open day.

On Tuesday (4 July), University College Hospital's atrium will be transformed into a giant laboratory, packed with more than 40 different stalls, and you are all invited.

You can find out how clinical trials work - using chocolate; have a go at surgery on artificial bones; have your blood pressure measured; discover how clean your hands really are and learn more about fake news and how to spot it.

If that’s not enough to pique your interest, why not sign up for one of these free tours?

  • Visit one of London’s most exciting holes: the site of UCLH’s new proton beam therapy centre. Proton beam therapy is a type of radiotherapy that targets certain cancers very precisely, reducing side-effects.  See the 28 metre-deep hole that will house the basement and hear from the construction team about the challenges of building a new clinical facility in the heart of the city.
  • UCLH Clinical Research Facility: Find out more about drug trials while seeing behind the scenes at this state-of-the-art unit.

There will also be a prize draw to win an iPad!

Celebrate research with us from 2.30-5.30pm on Tuesday 4 July 2017 in the main atrium of University College Hospital, 235 Euston Road, London NW1 2BU.
