There is just one week to go until the UCLH Open Day where patients and the public can visit interactive stalls, talk to scientists and tour facilities.

This special exhibition of research and innovation will see three floors of University College Hospital accommodate 50 interactive stalls where researchers will demonstrate the latest technology and techniques tackling conditions such as cancer, dementia and arthritis.

Visitors have the chance to put on headphones and try a cochlear implant simulator; have a 3D scan of their face; find out their hand hygiene levels; extract DNA from strawberries in addition to many other activities.

The event is on Tuesday 28 June, 2.30pm - 5.30pm, University College Hospital, 235 Euston Road, NW1 2BU. There's no need to book, just turn up!

Visitors can also take behind-the-scenes tours, bookable on the day at the Tours Desk:

Cotton Rooms Patient Hotel
Tours at 3pm, 3.30pm, 4pm and 5pm

(tour length 20 minutes)
Visit the physiotherapy gym and hydrotherapy pool and see how we help rehabilitate patients after surgery, improve mobility and speed recovery.

This year UCLH is combining its summer research open day with the chairman’s Christmas event to hold one combined event focusing on innovation.

Dr Nick McNally, director of research support at UCLH, said: “Patients and the public are at the heart of what we do, from helping shape the questions we ask to participating in trials. The open day is an exciting way of sharing our work and saying thank you to them also for their support. We look forward to making medical science and research as accessible as possible.”
