Inspection success at RNTNEH

The Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital received positive feedback following its first Care Quality Commission inspection.
The Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital 

The hospital met all standards following the routine visit to check that essential standards of quality and safety were being met. The visit on June 26 was unannounced.
The inspection team said: “We saw that there were robust systems in place to asses and monitor quality and safety and the staff members we spoke to had a good knowledge of them.”

Standards assessed – and met – were:

  • Consent to care and treatment
  • Care and welfare of people who use services
  • Cleanliness and infection control
  • Management of medicines
  • Safety and suitability of premises
  • Staffing
  • Assessing and monitoring the quality of service provision

Dr Gill Gaskin, medical director responsible for the RNTNEH, said: “Congratulations to everybody who works at the RNTNEH for achieving such a positive result from the inspection. The hospital has been part of UCLH for more than a year and this is a fitting way to mark the first 12 months. We should be really proud of the services we’re delivering to ear, nose and throat patients.”
