The UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre had a special guest earlier this month, Channel Four anchorman Jon Snow.

Jon was helping Macmillan out with a short film for their Centenary Gala at the Palladium this month. He donned a high visibility vest, hard hat and boots and was escorted by construction company Skanska to what will eventually be the Macmillan Support and Information Service in the Centre.

Jon said: “The UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre, is a groundbreaking partnership between Macmillan Cancer Support and University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

“People affected by cancer are helping shape and create this remarkable building and the services within it – including world class treatment and care, emotional support, information on all aspects of cancer, expert financial guidance and so much more.

“The professionals and skilled volunteers who will work from the centre will provide the best for patients and their families, always making sure they place them at the heart of everything they do.

“The partnership aims to create a blueprint for the future of cancer care – a new, joined up way of supporting the patient at every step of their cancer journey, in the right way, at the right time and at the right place.”

Jon’s film clip will form part of a longer celeb-packed film where, in the spirit of celebrating Macmillan’s 100th year the stars make a birthday wish and then a wish for cancer care.

To book for the gala, hosted by Graham Norton, on 28 November call 020 7840 4747. Lines are open 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
