UCLH Cancer Collaborative held its annual review event this week bringing together healthcare professionals and patients to hear about the latest developments in early cancer diagnosis, improving patient outcomes and supporting people after diagnosis.

Over 150 people gathered at the event in east London which also saw the launch of the Cancer Collaborative’s annual review 2017/18.

UCLH Cancer Collaborative is the Cancer Alliance for north and east London was one of three partners in the national Cancer Vanguard along with Greater Manchester Cancer Vanguard and RM Partners for south west London until March 2018, when NHS England’s New Care Models programme ended. Over the past year, working with its partners, the Collaborative has made significant progress to improve outcomes and experience for people with cancer, their families and carers – including reducing waiting times.

Prof Kathy Pritchard-Jones, chief medical officer, said: “We were delighted to welcome so many people from across our region, and beyond, to share good practice in cancer diagnosis and treatment as well as learning about exciting innovations that are transforming cancer care.”

Naser Turabi, programme director, said: “The UCLH Cancer Collaborative’s annual review is a good opportunity both to reflect on the past year’s achievements and also to share future plans. Overall our aim is simple – improving the outcomes and experience for all people affected by or at risk of cancer. Patients, their carers and families, remain at the very heart of everything we do.”
