Ready, steady…draw!

Sharpen your pencils and dust off your sketch pad – it’s time to get drawing.

Staff, patients and visitors are invited to free drawing workshops on Thursday 26 October in the University College Hospital atrium.

UCLH arts curator Guy Noble said: “Novice or expert, young or old we want to encourage our patients, staff and visitors to take part and create a drawing.

“It’s a great opportunity to learn from the experts – we have three professional artists who will be taking the workshops and passing on their ideas and experience.

“If drawing isn’t your thing, you can sit back and relax, while Simon Tolhurst, our very own portrait-artist-in-residence, sketches you.

“The workshops will run from 11am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm.  There’s no need to book – just come along.”

The workshops will be led by illustrators and educators Sion Ap Tomos and Merlin Strangeway, and Ros Asquith, UCLH’s cartoonist-in-residence.

The day is being organised by UCLH Arts and Heritage and the House of Illustration as part of the Big Draw Festival – the world’s biggest celebration of drawing.
