UCLH celebrates National Apprenticeship Week

14/03/2016 00:00
National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) runs from 14 to 18 March and is coordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service.

NAW celebrates apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, organisations and the wider economy. UCLH is marking NAW by celebrating its own work with apprentices, and the apprenticeship qualifications offered to existing staff through the UCLH Institute. Next year we hope to have more than a hundred apprentices working in our teams.

Caroline Theodorou, uclh Institute learning and development project manager, apprenticeships, said:  “An apprenticeship is a vocational qualification that provides a great way for young people and adult learners to earn while they learn in a real job. UCLH is in its third year of offering apprenticeship programmes in business administration (levels 2,3 and 4), clinical healthcare (level 3) and leadership and management (level 5). In time we hope to increase the range of apprenticeship qualifications."

UCLH and our contractors employ apprentices in range of roles and there are many success stories. Kate Watson is an apprentice studying an intermediate apprenticeship framework in business and administration. Kate says: “I have really enjoyed my time at UCLH. Apprenticeships are such a great opportunity to gain experience and meet new people whilst gaining qualifications. I’d like to continue working here in a similar role or progressing on to a Level 3 qualification.”

For more information about these qualifications, or to discuss recruiting an apprentice, email Caroline.

You can also speak with Caroline in person during the following drop-in sessions:

Monday 14 March 12-2pm: reception, UCH
Tuesday 15 March 12-2pm: atrium, 250 Euston Road
