UCLH featured on NHS Choices radio a fourth time

UCLH staff featured in three segments on Health Today Radio this week.
The fortnightly radio programme is produced by BBC Radio 4 presenter Dominic Arkwright and is broadcast every other Wednesday afternoon on the NHS choices website.

This week, Dominic spoke to T7 matron Josie Gladney about hospital care for older people. He asked her: “What is hospital care like for older people? Should it be better than, or different from, the hospital care younger people receive?”

This week’s programme also tied up with a segment in the last programme about general anaesthesia. This time Dominic took a closer look at local anaesthetia and learnt from Dr John Dick and Dr Sanjiv Patel how complex procedures can be performed under local anaesthetic, and what patients should be prepared for if they decide to opt for one.

Finally it was the turn of staff from the emergency department team who spoke about the challenges they face on a daily basis and  what makes it rewarding to work in such a high-pressured environment.
