UCLH nurse wins top accolade

UCLH’s chief nursing information officer has won a top award.

Natasha Phillips was put forward for the Digital Health Award due to her “creative and adaptive leadership” style that led to improved clinical collaborative working for the launch of Epic, our electronic health record system.

The awards formed part of the Digital Health Summer School, which sees more than 400 current and future NHS IT leaders meeting to share their learning on a variety of topics.

Natasha said: “I am an unashamedly proud nurse. Nurses represent continuity of care to the patient connecting all the disparate parts of their healthcare experience and so we form strong relationships acting as their advocates. I am delighted that at UCLH we used this unique nursing knowledge and experience to inform and deliver our digital transformation. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to lead our nurses and midwives in stepping up and proactively owning this change.

“I am also excited to be part of a growing community of nurse leaders, CNIOs, who are bringing the nursing voice to important national conversations about how we digitally transform our NHS putting our patients, people, at the centre. Our UCLH experience is invaluable for informing that conversation as we are one of a handful of organisations who have taken a large scale clinically-led, ‘big bang’ transformative approach to ‘going digital’.”

Chief nurse Flo Panel-Coates said: "Amazing news! It’s so nice to see all of Natasha's hard work recognised at UCLH and now nationally. So well deserved and everyone at UCLH is very proud of you!"
