UCLH shortlisted for prestigious HSJ award

UCLH has been shortlisted for the Staff Engagement category at this year’s HSJ Awards, recognising the outstanding teamwork and support all staff have shown during our Epic implementation.

The success of implementing Epic was only possible through teamwork across all roles and departments whether part of local readiness meetings and checklists, training, superusers, floorwalkers, go-live readiness events, keeping updated through the staff bulletin, intranet, notice boards, social media or simply by supporting each other.

We have seen an unprecedented level of teamwork during go-live with the strapline “Together we can do this” and this still rings true during the challenging stabilisation period.

Ben Morrin, director of workforce, said: “Being nominated is a fantastic achievement.

“The effort made across UCLH by every one of our teams in clinical, corporate and by supporting experts in Epic has shown what we can achieve at our best.”

Gill Gaskin, medical director and senior responsible officer for EHRS, added: “I am incredibly proud of everyone who has made this possible. It was great to see everyone working together to make the implementation a success.

“But, we know a lot more work is needed to get the system to work the way we want it to. So, please continue to support each other. During tough periods of change it is kindness and teamwork that will get us through.”

A small team will now deliver a presentation to the HSJ judges in September ahead of the announcement of the winners on 6 November.
