Did you know that, on average, we gain 5lb over the festive season?  If you are feeling bombarded by new year, new you headlines, why not take some sensible advice from an expert in our next web chat?

Our head of dietetics Lisa Hancock will be available from 12.30pm – 1.30pm on Wednesday 22 January to answer any questions you might have about nutrition, diets, what works and what doesn’t.  Join in the conversation, or set your reminder in the window below or visit  www.uclh.nhs.uk/chatfood to join the online chat.

In the meantime, Lisa’s team has come up with two top tips to get you started:

“After the over indulgence at Christmas, January is a great time to get back on track to a healthy diet.  Here are two top tips to help you on your way.

1:  Get Active!

To help shift a couple of pounds and kick start the new year, aim to do 30 mins of exercise per day.  There are easy ways to increase your exercise whilst fitting it into everyday life.  Get of the bus a couple of stops early and walk the rest of the way. Or instead of taking the lift, why not take the stairs?

2: Get your 5-a-day

Swap the chocolates and crisps for some juicy fruit and veg! It's easy to get in your 5 portions a day, it just takes a bit of planning.  And remember, tinned, frozen and fresh all count.”
