Professional background

Dr. Coziana Ciurtin is Principal Research Associate and Honorary Consultant Rheumatologist at University College London (UCL). Her professional interests include pathogenesis of inflammatory arthritis, new biological therapies for inflammatory arthritis and musculoskeletal ultrasonography. She is currently involved in developing a portfolio of clinical trials in rheumatology and basic research projects in inflammatory arthritis, working as a member of the UCLH Clinical Research Facility management team.

Dr. Ciurtin completed her clinical training in Rheumatology in Bucharest, Romania (2002-2006). She also holds an MSc in Biophysics and Cellular Biotechnology (2002) and a PhD in Rheumatology (2007) from the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine, Bucharest, Romania (the last in collaboration with University of Leeds, UK) and an MSc in Rheumatology (distinction) from University of Oxford, UK (2011).
