Professional background

Dr Vanessa Morris is a consultant rheumatologist based at UCLH. She was appointed in 1998. She trained at UCLH and the Middlesex Hospital and qualified in 1987. She obtained her MRCP in 1990.  Her rheumatology registrar and senior registrar training was at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, UCLH and the Hammersmith Hospital.  She did her research at the London Hospital and Queen Mary's Westfield where she obtained an MD. 
 
Teaching and Training
 
Dr Morris is the educational supervisor to the trainees in rheumatology at UCLH. She represents UCLH in rheumatology training issues and is involved in recruitment, training and revalidation for UCLP. She was Chair of the specialist exam in rheumatology (SCE) at the Royal College of Physicians until recently and is still involved in standard setting for the exam at the College.  She also teaches undergraduates and takes part in finals exams at UCL.

Research interests

Dr Morris supports the clinical research which takes part in the rheumatology department. She has a special interest in early arthritis and is actively involved in recruiting patients for interventional and observational clinical trials in early rheumatoid arthritis and seronegative spondyloarthropathies.  She also participates in observational trials correlating clinical and joint ultrasound features in patients with suspicion of inflammatory arthritis.
