How to refer - brain tumour unit

  • Emergency referrals

For patients who are inpatients at another hospital or in emergency departments.

You must complete both of the following:

    • Contact the neurosurgical on-call specialist registrar on 020 3456 7890 bleep 8100 (24 hours a day 7 days a week)
    • Refer the patient via the “refer a patient” online portal:

    Please note:

If the bleep holder is in theatre, the bleep will be passed on to the on-call senior nurse or SHO. This is a 24 hour service throughout the week and weekends.

This verbal referral is then supplemented by a referral via “refer a patient”. This is an online referral portal, which allows for two way email conversation between referrer and SpR recipient. The referral is supported by a secure NHS cloud storage system.
