 The Headache Group  The Headache Service

The Headache Group runs both a clinical and research service, including a large outpatient and inpatient service. The dedicated inpatient service is unique to the United Kingdom, offering treatments that are not readily available elsewhere. 

Conditions treated

We treat the following headache-related conditions:

  • Chronic migraine
  • Cluster headache
  • Hemicrania continua
  • Medication overuse headache
  • New persistent daily headache
  • Paroxysmal hemicrania continua
  • Persistent migraine aura
  • Post-traumatic headache
  • Secondary headache disorders eg. spontaneous intracranial hypotension
  • SUNCT headache

The National Hospital Headache Service provides advice and treatment to patients referred for the management of headache disorders. Our ethos is to provide treatment in a timely fashion with an emphasis on community delivered shared care.

  • paroxysmal headache disorders e.g. cough, exertional, hypnic, thunderclap headache
