After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2002 I was referred to Queen Square, and have been under the excellent care of the National Neurological Hospital since then. As part of my ongoing treatment I was lucky enough to have Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery three years ago, and continue to receive excellent care from all at NHNN.
I have nothing but admiration for all the staff here at UCLH. The trust is unique in its importance, not just to north London, but also nationally and internationally. In my role as a patient governor from outside of London, I represent the view of the many patients who travel into London from all over the UK for their treatment.
I am a farmer and so have had much real-life experience. I have limited knowledge of the inner workings of the NHS but a wealth of patient knowledge. I have seen many aspects of hospital life as a service user in both this hospital and others and have gained valuable insight into the patient experience. I look forward to working constructively with the team of governors to further enhance the service offered to patients.
