The Red Cell Network organises a variety of events to educate and train healthcare professionals, and others involved in the care of people with sickle cell disorders, thalassaemia and rare anaemias.

  • The West London HCC will be hosting the next National Education Session which will be held on Friday 1st of July, 4pm-5pm via MS Teams.

    Dr Kofi Anie will be giving a talk on Psychology: Managing Adherence to Treatment Challenges in Thalassaemia and Sickle Cell Disease.

  • Summer Sickle Cell Event

    Date and time: 25 June 2022, 1:00pm to 5:00pm

    North Middlesex University Hospital, University College Hospitals London and Whittington Health are hosting a free event for children and teenagers with Sickle Cell Disorder.

  • Dr Ruth Anderson, Counselling Psychologist at UCLH will be hosting the next TRCN seminar and will be discussing Psychological support and wellbeing in Sickle Cell Disease. 

  • Wessex and Thames Valley HCC Haemoglobinopathy Education Day

    Date and time: 13 June 2022, 10:00am to 4:00pm

    Wessex and Thames Valley HCC is hosting a free Haemoglobinopathy Education Day on 13 June, Monday, 10:00-16:00. The event is aimed at adult and paediatric healthcare professionals. 

     

  • Dr Sara Trompeter Consultant Haematologist, UCLH will be hosting a 90 minute seminar titled ‘The sweaty Haematologist, how to manage difficult to transfuse patients’ on Tuesday 3rd May 2022 at 3.30pm.

  • Virtual Conference: Elements and Advances in Sickle Cell Care

    King’s College London will be holding a 2-Day Virtual Conference on 11th -12th October 2021, on Elements and Advances in sickle cell care. The conference is suitable for healthcare professionals and students, people who have sickle cell and their families, and support/peer organisations.

    This conference features globally renowned speakers who specialise in sickle cell care and experts who are leading advances in treatments.

     

     

     

     

     

  • The Red Cell Network Sickle Cell Workshop

    Date and time: 24 June 2021, 3:00pm to 6:00pm

    The Red Cell Network Sickle Cell Workshop will be held virtually on 24th June 2021, 3pm – 6pm.

    Dr Perla Eleftheriou Consultant Haematologist, will be doing two pre-recorded presentations which will be sent out prior to the live event on the 24thJune to give you the opportunity to watch them in your own time. The presentations will cover the following topics:

    -             Sickle cell disease: What should the Nurses know

    -             Complications and treatment advances in Sickle Cell Disease

    The live session on 24th June will include case presentations and Q&A sessions with the following multidisciplinary panel:

Saturday morning exercise classes are also available. Show off your artistic flair in an art competition, or become an advocate for fellow patients - there is something for everyone.

The research team at Whittington Health organise organise monthly meetings in the Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Centre to have a space to discuss research and other topics of interest with the Sickle Cell patients in the area. This may expand to Thalassaemia patients in the near future.
