IRP_2_451a GF resized.jpgI am a Macmillan Nurse Consultant for Cancer and Supportive Care. As the Lead Cancer Nurse at RNOH and the Sarcoma Clinical Lead I am responsible for the quality and development of cancer services. I am the nurse representative on the Sarcoma Advisory Group.

I am a highly experienced cancer nurse and I support patients and families throughout their care. I manage nurse led clinics for patients referred with a suspected sarcoma and a follow up clinic supporting patients after cancer treatment. I have studied at Diploma, Degree and Master’s level.

Days of work: 09.00-17.00 on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Advanced Nurse Practitioners

IRP_2_460a GF resize.jpgMy primary role is to clinically assess and initiate investigations for people who have been referred by their GP with a suspected sarcoma. I perform a telephone clinic for those whose results exclude a sarcoma and can be discharged back to the GP. I also provide follow-up for people who have completed treatment for soft tissue sarcoma and require surveillance.

I have completed a BSc Oncology Nursing, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Strategic Leadership and Expert Practice.

AMcT 2021.jpgI have worked within the speciality of sarcoma for over 20 years, and my current role is primarily to see patients on surveillance, having completed treatment for sarcoma.

Prior to this I was part of the clinical nurse specialist team for a number of years, and have a previous background of facilitating some of our research projects into the treatment of sarcoma.

I work part time, Mondays and Fridays.

I have been working with oncology patients since 2014 and this has allowed me to improve my knowledge and experience in this area. I have also developed an interest in palliative care and symptom control.

Suzy Day.jpgI am one of the nurses in the Adult Sarcoma Clinical Nurse Specialist team. My role involves meeting patients at diagnosis and guiding them through their cancer journey, including treatment and follow-up. I provide ongoing support to patients and their family.

I am an experienced cancer nurse with previous roles working on oncology wards and as a chemotherapy nurse.

Gifty Howusu- Sarcoma CNS (002) resize.jpgI work within the London Sarcoma Service as one of the Adult Sarcoma Clinical Nurse Specialists.

I am an experienced cancer nurse with rich knowledge and skills acquired over the years having worked in various roles in oncology and haematology. Prior to taking up this role, I worked for many years at the Haematology/Oncology Day Care as a chemotherapy nurse and as a Clinical Practice Facilitator on the oncology wards. I have also benefitted from several professional training courses at the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and the Royal Marsden School to keep my knowledge and skills up to date.

As a key worker and advocate for patients, I act as the liaison between the patient and the wider MDT. This involves supporting patients and their families throughout their cancer journey from the day of diagnosis and throughout the treatment pathway.  I have a special interest in palliative care as well as creating good connection with patients and their families at the very onset of the nurse-patient relationship.

Paediatric, Teenage and Young Adult Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS's)

Caroline Newton resize.jpgI work with patients aged 13- 19 years old with sarcoma, in an inpatient, in clinic and within an ambulatory care setting. I work as a key worker with teenagers and their families and support them from diagnosis and through their cancer journey.

I have an interest in psychological support for teenager and their families and am setting up a mindfulness group for teenagers and young adults who are off treatment. I am involved with the bereavement support network for parents and families.

Specialist Radiographer

Clare David resize.jpegI work within the radiotherapy department at University College London Hospital, following sarcoma patients throughout their radiotherapy pathway and providing information and support during this time.

Previous to this role, I worked for six years as Senior Therapeutic Radiographer within the department and gained a vast amount of experience in treating sarcoma patients.

My research interests centre on patient experience and evaluating patient pathways and I recently completed an MSc in Oncology Practice.
