The Bone and Soft Tissue Sarcoma Team is one of the largest of its kind in Europe and one of the two main centres in the UK, treating patients with bone and soft tissue tumours of the limbs, shoulders and pelvis. We have an international reputation for providing high quality care to sarcoma patients, and our surgeons are pioneers of advancing limb salvage surgery techniques, including using growing prostheses for children. We provide a comprehensive service to patients of all ages from the first consultation, through investigation, to definitive treatment and follow-up.
As a member of the London Sarcoma Service I am actively involved in the surgical treatment of all types of bone and soft tissue sarcomas. I also have interests in the surgical treatment of arthritis including arthroscopic knee surgery, knee and hip replacement surgery and complex hip and knee revision surgery. Research interests include the design and fixation of massive prostheses in limb salvage surgery and the use of these techniques in revision joint replacement surgery. Aiming to improve functional outcomes by using joint sparing techniques coupled with biological reconstruction where possible. I have published papers, book chapters and presented at international meetings on the above topics and am a member of the British Orthopaedic Oncology Society. I am involved with the teaching and training of future orthopaedic surgeons.
I qualified from the University of Edinburgh in 1989, completed higher surgical training in Glasgow and undertook fellowships in Orthopaedic Oncology and Lower Limb Reconstruction at the Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. I was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to the Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2001 and in 2018 joined the London Sarcoma Service.
My interests are in the diagnosis and surgical management of bone and soft tissue sarcoma and metastatic bone disease, clinical trials in sarcoma, rehabilitation, survivorship, and surgical outcomes. I have written theses on soft tissue sarcoma and innovation in the NHS.
I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and Clinical Director of the Sarcoma and Joint Reconstruction Units. I have a particular interest in limb salvage surgery for the treatment of bone and soft tissue tumours. I have published over eighty papers on joint reconstruction and regularly present research at national and international meetings. I am a member of the British Orthopaedic Oncology Society (Secretary 2013-7), European Musculo-Skeletal Oncology Society and the International Society of Limb Salvage. I am a trustee of the Skeletal Cancer Action Trust, a charity dedicated to funding research into musculo-skeletal cancers.
I am a Plastic Surgery Consultant specialising in the reconstruction of complex wounds. I am based at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation trust and am the lead plastic surgeon at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. My specialist interest is in sarcoma reconstruction and I support the sarcoma surgeons across several sub-disciplines including head and neck, spine, bone and soft tissue as well as abdominal sarcoma. I provide a comprehensive approach to complex reconstruction.
My plastic surgical training was in London with a particular focus on microsurgical techniques and facial palsy. My PhD research in nerve regeneration was done at the Harvard Center for Brain Science under Professor JW Lichtman. I continue to have an research interest in nerve function particularly with respect to pain and function in amputees, and am an expert in targeted muscle reinnervation and facial reanimation.
I completed my clinical training at St Bartholomew’s and University College London Hospitals. I completed a PhD at the Institute of Cancer Research and the Royal Marsden Hospital which looked at the genes that predispose patients to prostate cancer.
I now specialise in the treatment of soft tissue and bone sarcomas using chemotherapy and radiotherapy. I have a strong interest in clinical research and am currently in the process of developing a number of new local and national research projects in sarcoma. I teach and lecture regularly in the management of sarcomas.
I am part of the oncology team on the Sarcoma Unit at University College Hospital, and specialize in the systemic treatment of patients with bone and soft tissue sarcomas. I completed my training at the Istituto Nazionale Tumori of Milan and at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. During my fellowship at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute I also worked with Dr. Karen Albritton, who at that time was setting up of one of the first AYA (adolescents and young adults) Clinic, as well as the Survivorship Clinic. From 2006 to 2010 I was Associate Physician, Medical Oncology, Istituto Nazionale Tumori, Milan working in the Sarcoma Team. I am on the medical board of the Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation and lead physician for our Unit for the treatment of desmoid-type fibromatosis patient. Also lead physician for our team for patient with Giant Cell Tumor requiring medical treatment. I have a strong interest in early phase clinical trials and am a co-investigator for a number of clinical trials in sarcoma.
I completed my medical training at King’s College London. I undertook my specialist clinical oncology training on the pan-London training scheme including at UCLH. I developed a keen interest in paediatric radiotherapy and post FRCR undertook a period of research at University College London (UCL). This focused on improving the outcomes for childhood neuroblastoma through advanced photon techniques and molecular radiotherapy and I was awarded her MD(res) in 2015.
I was appointed as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at UCLH in 2017 and specialise in paediatric radiotherapy. I am also an honorary consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
I was educated and started my training in Internal Medicine in Greece. I also conducted my PhD at University of Ioannina in angiogenesis and proteolysis in cancer of unknown primary site. I completed my specialist training in Oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London during a 3 years fellowship. I followed an academical career in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece and I led the Medical Oncology Department during my last year of my stay there. In 2015 I was appointed as a Consultant Medical Oncologist at UCLH and I am exclusively treating patients with bone and soft tissue sarcomas with systemic treatment within the London Sarcoma Service.
I have a strong interest in clinical trials across multiple tumor types and more recently in sarcoma, acting as principal and co-investigator for a number of national and international trials. Since my early days in my career, I was involved in the conduction of early clinical trials both in UK and Greece with novel agents and I have experience in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamic models.
I have published more than 100 publications in per reviewed journals in clinical and translational research and I regularly teach and lecture in the management of sarcomas. I also hold an honorary clinical senior lectureship contract with UCL and I contribute to the teaching of the medical students. I am member of several scientific organizations including British sarcoma Group, EORTC Soft Tissue and Bone Sarcoma Group, ESMO, ASCO, HeSMO etc.
I trained as a Clinical Oncologist in South Africa and was awarded a CESR in Clinical Oncology by the Royal College of Radiologist. I have worked with the London Sarcoma Service at University College Hospital since 2009 and now specialise exclusively in the treatment of sarcomas.
I developed an interest in sarcoma during my training and now specialise in the management of bone and soft tissue sarcomas as well as fibromatosis. I have a special interest in developing the use of advanced radiotherapy techniques for the treatment of sarcomas and to that end I am involved in research funded by the Bone Cancer Research Trust and Cancer Research UK. I have an interest in education and I am involved in teaching both medical students and specialty trainees.
I graduated from the University of Southampton in 2009. I was awarded the masters in oncology higher degree in 2016 and completed my clinical oncology training at UCLH in 2018. I took up a junior radiation oncologist position for 12 months at the Centre for Proton Therapy, Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland specialising in the pencil beam scanning delivery technique. I have been working as a consultant clinical oncologist at UCLH since 2020 focusing on radiotherapy for paediatric tumours and radionuclide therapy.

I have a strong interest in the field of proton beam therapy. I am currently completing my MD(Res) research degree investigating the benefits and challenges of proton beam therapy in children, teenage and young adults. My particular research focus is in developing strategies to manage the uncertainties of proton therapy in the abdominal region for children.

I completed my MD (University of Leeds) at the Candlelighter’s laboratory (CRUK, Leeds) in the application of molecular diagnostics in rhabdomyosarcoma. I am actively involved in coordinating sarcoma research at a national level as a member of the CCLG Sarcoma working Group, and am a member of the Connective Tissue Oncology Society. I am also a board member of the teenage and young adults with cancer (TYAC) group – a professional group for specialists in young people’s cancer care.

I am a Senior Clinical Lecturer and Honorary Consultant Medical Oncologist. My clinical post is based at University College London Hospital, part of the London Sarcoma Service, one of the largest sarcoma services in Europe. I specialise in the systemic treatment of bone and soft tissue sarcomas in both adults and teenagers.
I began training as a medical oncologist working on the adolescent unit at the Middlesex Hospital where I developed an interest in sarcoma and teenage and young adult (TYA) cancer. I completed a Cancer Research UK Clinical Fellowship to obtain a PhD (University of London) at St Bartholomew's Hospital investigating pre-clinical and clinical effects of novel treatments for cancer, and investigating translational markers to improve their effects. In 2009, I was awarded a Career Development Award from the Sarcoma Alliance for Research through Collaboration (SARC), which allowed me to further my research aiming to identify new targets for the treatment of sarcoma; work that is ongoing in the UCL Cancer Institute. I have a strong interest in translating these findings into benefit for patients and early phase clinical trials, particularly in sarcomas affecting teenagers and young adults.
I am the chief investigator and principle investigator for a number of international and national phase I, II and III studies in sarcoma and am leading a national cohort study in osteosarcoma, ICONIC. I chair the NCRI Sarcoma Clinical Studies Group Bone Subgroup and was recently appointed Chair of the Executive Committee of the European EuroEwing consortium (EEC), a pan-European collaboration to improve outcome for patients with Ewing sarcoma. I am a member of the EORTC Soft Tissue and Bone Sarcoma Group and Innovative Therapies for Children with Cancer (ITCC) consortium and am the Clinical lead for Sarcoma and rare cancers for the Public Health England (PHE) National Cancer Registration and Analysis Service (NCRAS). Here, I am particularly interested in understanding variations in patient pathways and access to specialist services to reduce inequalities and improve outcome for patients with rare cancers.
I am a paediatrician with a sub-specialist interest in oncology. I work within the Children and Young People’s Cancer Service and the London Sarcoma Service at UCLH, specialising in the treatment of children and young people with bone and soft tissue sarcoma. My other clinical interest is the long-term effects of cancer treatment and I am one of the core clinicians running the UCLH Late Effects Service. I completed my MD Res in the pharmacogenomics of osteosarcoma chemotherapy and am involved in an ongoing international collaboration. I currently hold the position of North Thames Clinical Research Network joint Specialty Research Lead for Cancer – Children, Sarcoma and Teenage/Young Adults, advocating for the involvement of children and young people in cancer clinical trials.
I am a Consultant Histopathologist with a special interest in bone and soft tissue tumour: diagnostic aspects and molecular genetics. I have worked in a large tertiary hospital in Sao Paulo, Brazil as a consultant for 12 years before taking the current post at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) in 2010. I completed my Ph.D. in 2007 with focus in molecular genetics of sarcomas, and since them my research interest includes molecular aspects in the diagnosis and treatment of sarcomas. I am the clinical lead for Molecular Pathology at the histopathology department at RNOH and Honorary Senior Lecturer at University College London, Cancer Institute.
I am the clinical lead for the diagnostic pathology service for the London Sarcoma Service undertaking the NHS service work at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust. My research is based in the NHS Histopathology Department in Stanmore, and in the Paul O'Gorman Cancer Institute, Huntley Street, UCL.
Making a correct diagnosis is pivotal in deciding the best treatment for a patient. Cancer is caused by genetic alterations in cells and we can use these genetic changes to diagnose tumours accurately. Over the last 10 years, my research has focused on improving the way that we provide diagnoses for patients. In collaboration with my NHS colleagues we have translated this research into clinical practice and are using our findings every day in clinical practice.
I am a Consultant Histopathologist with a special interest in bone and soft tissue tumours. I completed my histopathology training in Nottingham University Hospitals from 2011-2016 before taking up a post as a Clinical Fellow in bone and soft tissue tumours from August 2016, to develop my knowledge in this area. During my fellowship at RNOH, I have obtained a distinction in the MSc in Genomic Medicine and successfully obtained funding to research MPNST from Health Education England as a Genomics Fellow, in addition to developing my knowledge in the pathology and molecular genetics of sarcoma. I have undertaken lecturing to medical students in non-neoplastic musculoskeletal pathology at the Royal Free Campus of the UCL Medical School. I am now actively working on a collaborative study centred at the Boston Children’s Hospital, as an oncology and pathology representative in the Genomics of MPNST Consortium (GeM) in addition to my clinical commitments. I started as a Consultant Histopathologist at the RNOH from January 2019 as part of the London Sarcoma Service.
I am an honorary Consultant Histopathologist with a special interest in bone and soft tissue tumours. I am a member of the 100,000 genomes sarcoma genomics clinical interpretation partnership and also have a specialist interest in digital pathology. My laboratory is currently using artificial intelligence techniques to integrate genetic information with pathological features in order to develop better ways to diagnose and treat patients with sarcoma.
I obtained a competitive intermediate clinical fellowship from Cancer Research UK to investigate the epi/genomics of undifferentiated sarcomas in order to develop a new molecular classification of the disease. The tangible clinical outputs for this project involved developing new diagnostic assays and identifying novel therapeutic options for patients based on identifying mutations in these tumours and DNA methylation signatures using techniques such as whole genome sequencing, RNA-sequencing and DNA methylome profiling on human tumour samples. At a basic science level, we use informatics and machine-learning approaches to integrate these datasets to address unanswered questions in this tumour type such as tissue of origin, differentiation and tumour evolution. This work is being conducted across three world class clinical and research facilities namely the RNOH, UCL Cancer Institute and the Francis Crick Institute.
In addition to my clinical and research responsibilities I am a faculty member of the Nottingham University Molecular Pathology node delivering lectures on molecular genetics of bone and soft tissue tumours to trainees and consultants. My training in bone and soft tissue tumour radiology was at the Royal National Orthopaedic hospital Stanmore and at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital Oswestry. I completed 18 months in these fellowships and was appointed as a Consultant Radiologist in RNOH in 2005.

This included specialisation in bone and soft tissue sarcoma imaging and interventional techniques such as biopsy and ablation of tumours.

I am a Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist at University College London Hospital and work within the Bone and Soft Tissue Sarcoma Team as part of the London Sarcoma Service. I am involved in the diagnostic and follow-up imaging, image guided biopsy and intervention of benign and malignant disease. I provide musculoskeletal radiology opinion at the Sarcoma Multi-disciplinary Team meetings. I organize and teach on musculoskeletal radiology events in association with the British Institute of Radiology.
I qualified from The University of Manchester Medical School in 1984 and undertook my radiology training in Leeds, obtaining Fellowship of The Royal College of Radiologists in 1992.
I was appointed as Consultant Radiologist to The RNOHT in 1994 and am the senior radiologist on this site. I have a major interest in the imaging of bone and soft tissue tumours, being the Lead Radiologist for the MDT and am also responsible for maintaining an archive of bone and soft tissue tumours, which has been running for 8 years. I have published numerous chapters on bone tumour imaging and over 100 papers in peer reviewed national and international journals.
I have completed an MRI fellowship at St Mary’s Hospital London, and a further fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. My research interest is in the use of MR-guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS) as a non-invasive treatment of specific musculoskeletal disorders.
I undertake general clinical duties as a radiologist at RNOH, including image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
