Our Arts & Heritage programme for patients spans art, music, and dance - from art workshops on wards delivered by our resident artists, to music in our atriums.

We work closely with clinical colleagues to deliver our patient facing participatory programme. Our creative specialist Frances Newman is responsible for delivering art workshops in spaces including:

  • T11 Paediatrics Ward
  • Teenage and Young People Day Unit, Macmillan Cancer Centre
  • Neuro-rehab unit and David Ferrier ward (National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery).

These artist workshops are expanding to include work with proton beam and radiotherapy patients in our Grafton Way Building. We are also working with the neuro-rehab unit to introduce another artist to deliver Saturday workshops.

Previous and ongoing music partnerships include the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Live Music Now, UCL Music Society.  This has included music performances in patient waiting areas as well as on ward activity such as the Guildhall’s work on our elderly care ward.

Patients of the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery have benefitted from dance projects led by Danielle Teale, including ‘Dancing for Parkinsons’ and more recently her company Luminelle piloted a dance project on the David Ferrier stroke ward.

We understand that during your time in hospital, you may feel bored or in need of something else to focus on. We have collated a selection of resources to make your time at UCLH more enjoyable.
