About the programme
UCLH Arts and Heritage, established in 2005, is committed to providing a welcoming, uplifting environment for patients, visitors and staff using a varied and stimulating arts and heritage programme. With help from our funders, UCLH Arts and Heritage has developed into a multi-award winning programme which goes above and beyond NHS Core business to deliver improved patient and staff outcomes through the arts in its widest definition.
UCLH Arts and Heritage provides cultural and artistic activities for the benefit of all our patients and staff. It does this through weekly creative and cultural opportunities: Activities such as music by patients’ bedsides, artist-led creative sessions, exhibitions, artistic residencies, and improving the physical environment through commissioning site-specific artwork, for example, within the Grafton Way Building. It has also run an Arts on Prescription service which will link patients with arts organisations within the community to support their wellbeing and recovery.
In addition to this, the Arts programme has brought great comfort and support to our staff during the pandemic by developing a creative comfort offer.
Our focus for the next few years is to help improve health inequalities in the community we serve.
We are grateful to our funders, UCLH Charity, and the Friends who support the majority of our work.
