Spring Art Workshops 2025

As part of the UCLH Arts & Heritage Staff Arts Programme, a series of creative workshops were held by artists Amy Isles Freeman and Kimberley Cookey-Gam throughout Spring 2025. These workshops were designed to support staff well-being, encourage creativity, and foster connections among colleagues. They provided UCLH employees with a unique opportunity to pause, create, and recharge.

“A lot of fun! Just what I needed after a busy day.”

Generously funded by HLTH, the programme aimed to address the ongoing pressures of working in a healthcare environment by offering a therapeutic and joyful counterbalance through hands-on artistic activities. Throughout the series, participants reported feeling calmer, more inspired, and more connected—to their own creativity and to one another.

“Very therapeutic and has helped me unwind! Thank you.”

The workshops featured a variety of mediums, including lino printing, typography, and crochet. The Spring Workshops were a resounding success, with over 190 staff members participating across different sessions, representing both clinical and non-clinical teams throughout the hospital. The sessions provided hospital staff with a meaningful break from their demanding work environments and supported emotional well-being through hands-on creative practices.

“It’s so nice to be given a space and some time to be creative and mindful.”
