Professional background

Kishor graduated from Birmingham Dental School in 1980 (1976-1980). He worked for three years in NHS general dental practice in London (1980-1983). Undertook the MSc in Conservative Dentistry at the Eastman Dental Institute (1983-4). Joined the Department of Conservative Dentistry as a Registrar for two years (1984-7).

Appointed lecturer in conservative dentistry in 1987 (Eastman Dental Institute) and established the MSc in Endodontics. Completed higher training in Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics (1987-1993).

Appointed consultant in restorative dentistry /senior lecturer in conservative dentistry (1994). Established programmes for MClinDent in Endodontology and Specialist Training in Endodontics (1999). Entered UK Specialist Lists in Restorative Dentistry, Prosthodontics and Endodontics in 2000. 

Appointed head of newly established Department of Endodontology in 2003. Was head and manager of endodontic clinical services between 1994 and 2004; developed dedicated staff team, skills laboratory, clinic and service in endodontics during this time; handed over running of services to new consultant (Geoffrey St George) in the developing team in 2004.

Completed PhD on microbial infections of teeth in 2004. Appointed Professor of Endodontology in 2005. Appointed Training Programme Director for Restorative Dentistry in 2006 to present.

Programme Director for MSc in Endodontics and MClinDent in Endodontology from inception (1989, 1999, respectively), handing over to a staff member (Dr Y-L Ng) in the developing team in 2007.

Programme Director for Diploma in Endodontics from 2010 to present. Has run over 100 hands-on courses on endodontics for general dental practitioners.

Published over 100 peer-reviewed papers (selected clinical papers below) and over 100 research abstracts. Contributor to the Self-Assessment manual on Endodontics 1995 (Mosby-Wolfe), Textbook and Colour Atlas of Endodontics 1995 (2nd Ed, Mosby-Wolfe). Editor/co-author of Endodontics, Colour Atlas, 2004 (3rd Ed, Elsevier Science); also previously 2nd Ed.
