Induction
When you join UCLH you will attend our corporate induction programme with other new recruits. The programme introduces our vision and values, explores why patient and staff experience is important, gives you information to ensure your safety and the safety of others at work, and outlines the range of discounts and benefits available to UCLH employees. This will be followed by a local induction in your local ward or department.
Mandatory training
We are committed to supporting staff to fulfil their statutory and professional obligations to keep their knowledge and skills up to date, reduce the risk of injury to themselves, and to keep our patients safe. Most of our mandatory training is available as e-learning via the UCLH Learning Portal, and new recruits will be set up with access to the Portal before they start.
Development opportunities
We offer in-house courses and programmes ranging from personal development, essential skills such as digital healthcare and quality improvement, through to leadership and management capability at all levels. We offer full-funded apprenticeship qualifications for staff at all levels to support their personal and career development, and have over 20 different programmes ranging from entry level to Master’s qualifications. We also have an internal coaching and mentoring service that all staff can access.
Grants for professional development
Staff can apply for individual grants to support their professional development on external courses.
