Our multiple sclerosis service

We know that coping with multiple sclerosis (MS) is not easy.

We are an established service that has worked closely with thousands of people who live with MS.

Our MS service is based at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN), in Queen Square in central London. The MS clinical service is closely linked with University College London's Institute of Neurology (ION) and together forms the largest single-site centre for neurology and neurosurgery in the UK. We are also internationally recognised for being at the leading edge of clinical care.

Our team are committed to delivering the best possible service to people with MS and aim to provide specialist services, share information on how to manage symptoms, offer education dessions to discuss lifestyle issues, medication options and rehabilitation services.

We run one-to-one sessions at the time of diagnosis, group classes for newly diagnosed patients, symptom management tips, medication management and education regarding treatments, information about coping with MS, as well as a range of specialist clinics.

In addition to running specialist clinics, our MS service is linked to major research programmes at the ION, looking at new treatments, better ways of managing MS and improving our understanding of the condition.

You can be referred to UCLH's National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN). As a patient, government policy allows you to make decisions about your healthcare.

If your GP thinks you need to be referred to see a multiple sclerosis specialist, you can choose any hospital in the country. This means that regardless of where you live, you have the right to be seen at the NHNN.

GP referrals

GP referrals must be made through the eReferral system. We are no longer able to accept paper referrals.
