The Bariatric support group is cancelled until further notice due to COVID-19. We apologise for the inconvenience. We will update the webpage with more information in due course.

The bariatric support group is open to anyone considering bariatric surgery and any patient who has already had a bariatric procedure at UCLH.

It is a great opportunity to hear other people’s experiences and to get support in managing some of the challenges of weight loss surgery.

The sessions are facilitated by the bariatric team’s clinical psychologist and either one of our clinical nurse specialists or bariatric dieticians. The talks focus on subjects like how to eat more protein, how to manage emotional eating and drinking, introducing activity, how surgery may impact partners/friends/family, and lots more.

Friends and family members are welcome, but we would ask that you bring only one other person with you as space is restricted. Unfortunately, we do not have facilities for young children to attend with you.

Support groups run on the last Tuesday of every month. This is a walk-in service. However, please check this webpage regularly for any changes or cancellations to the group, before attending.

Please meet at 17:15 in the corner of reception nearest the giant pebble (Euston Road side). The group will run from 17:30 to 18:30, in the seminar room, level 2 of the main hospital (follow the signs for sterile services). If you are late, the UCLH receptionists have the details for the meeting location and will be able to direct you there.
