Emergency Walk-In Clinic | The Hospital for Tropical Diseases (HTD)

The Hospital of Tropical Diseases (HTD) emergency walk-in clinic is designed for travellers who have returned from the tropics within the last 6 months and are experiencing symptoms such as fever, diarrhoea, or rash.

We also provide care for patients who may have been exposed to rabies, offering post-exposure rabies treatment following a risk assessment.

This service is for adults only and cannot see children under 16 years old. If your child has a fever and you’ve recently returned from the tropics, please take them to the nearest emergency department. Alternatively, you may ask your GP to refer them to our UCLH Paediatric Infectious Diseases/Tropical team.

Register with the clinic:
- Email uclh.htdadmin@nhs.net with your name, date of birth, and mobile phone number.
Await confirmation:
- You will receive an email reply or phone call from our team to arrange your appointment. This will include a link to an online questionnaire.
Complete the online questionnaire:
- Provide information about your illness and travel history.
- This can be done on your mobile device or computer.
- Completing it before your visit will reduce your time at the clinic.
Appointment timing:
- Appointments are scheduled based on clinical urgency.
- We aim to see all patients the same day or the following day.
Contact hours:
- The email address and phone number are monitored during opening hours (Monday – Friday, 9am - 4 pm).
- For medical attention outside these hours, visit your local Emergency Department.
Clinic hours:
- The last patients are seen at 4 pm to allow time for treatment before closing.
